I know I’ve already written on this a couple of times:
but I feel compelled to come back to this topic again, because the behavior is just that sickening. The memorial service that took place the other day was borderline criminal, with people shouting and cheering on a political agenda, seemingly ignoring the fact that their behavior was completely inappropriate for a memorial service – most especially because the grieving families were there in the audience. It truly was surreal to see people in campaign T-shirts reading “Together We Thrive,” cheering during what should be a time of mourning for the people who were killed by a crazed gunman less than a week ago.
While in the aftermath of the shooting the Left only used the tragedy to attack their political enemies, now they’re pulling out all the stops, blatantly using the shooting not to take down their enemies, but to personally gain politically. Bernie Sanders has already sent out a fundraising letter, using the shooting to try and scare supporters into sending him campaign money by implicating the right. President Obama’s Organizing For America organization is taking on the “Together We Thrive” theme that should be a source of shame for those who organized the memorial service. Get ready to see that theme throughout President Obama’s 2012 campaign, and always remember that it was born out of the lies surrounding the Tucson shooting.
Sarah Palin, in a video posted on YouTube, called the Left’s accusations “Blood Libel,“ and that is exactly what it is. Her use of the phrase has caused some controversy among Jewish groups due to the term’s origin, but it applies. Originally, the term “blood libel” was used to describe accusations against Jews, who were accused of murdering young children as a blood sacrifice. The accusations have taken place in various times throughout history. In the case of the Tucson shootings, conservatives stand accused of murdering six people, one of them a 9 year old girl, all for political reasons. Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck have been so maligned in this case in what have been conclusively proven to be false accusations, that they could likely sue for libel against Sheriff Dupnik and several media organizations with some success.
The idea that the Democrats could use a tragedy like this for their own political gain and still remain a viable political party in America is despicable, deplorable and disgusting, yet they have been doing this kind of thing for some time. As Michelle Malkin pointed out in her column today, the Democrats have been doing exactly this kind of thing for a long time, trying to perpetuate the lie that conservatism is naturally violent, trying to get people to believe that conservatism is what causes domestic terrorism. The evidence, however, is quite the contrary. In fact, over the past few years, several of the instances that those on the Left would like to try and convince us are domestic terrorism perpetrated by conservatives have turned out to be liberals perpetrating violence masquerading as conservatives in the nastiest of smear campaigns.
Perhaps the most disgusting thing about Saturday’s shooting in Tucson is that the discussion about political vitriol is still going on. It has been proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that political vitriol had nothing to do with Jared Loughner’s motives. Even so, the Democrats are still seeking to move forward with their agenda, trying to shut down conservative media voices. The problem is that what those on the Left are calling vitriol is actually healthy political discussion. Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin (and the various other conservative voices who have been accused) haven’t been egging their listeners and viewers on to violence, and the accusations that they have are the most absurd of lies. Between all of them, the conservative voices in this nation have millions of listeners and viewers. If they were urging people into violence, and those supposed calls to violence effected conservatives the way the Left seems to think they do, a) it would be blatantly obvious, with various sound bytes and video clips to back it up, and b) there would be thousands of conservatives committing acts of violence across America. As it is, the Tea Party is actually one of the more tame political groups in this nation.
The real question that needs to be asked is, what is it about American conservatism that holds liberals in such abject fear? Why is it that every time there is a terrorist attack, the Left’s first reaction is to accuse conservatives, despite the lack of evidence? Why do liberals continually assume that conservative thought will inevitably lead to violence, even though instances of that violence occur extremely rarely, if at all.
The truth is that liberals’ fear of conservative violence is about as valid as the birthers’ claim that President Obama isn’t an American citizen. They’re crackpots on the same level of the 9/11 Truthers or those who claim that George W. Bush purposefully sabotaged the levies in New Orleans because he hates black people. Their repeated claims have no validity, yet like a crazy conspiracy theorist, they continue to point the finger every time a tragedy occurs, hoping that this time their craziness will turn out to be true. And this time, they’re trying to use their crazy conspiracy theories to justify passing laws that will restrict conservatives’ free speech, turning a tragedy into an opportunity to shut down their political opposition. It’s disgusting, and it should not be allowed.
