The government has been shut down for a few days now, and for most Americans, life continues on. I mean, sure, all of the politicians inside the Beltway are freaking out over the shutdown, but most of the people sent home work inside the Beltway, so they’re seeing the effects – for the most part, the rest of us aren’t. We aren’t seeing it, we aren’t feeling it. Life continues on, because most Americans aren’t dependent on the federal government for their continued existence.
But right now, big-government Democrats have a goal: to make you feel it…because millions of Americans across the nation aren’t dependent on the federal government in their everyday lives, so it is in the Democrats’ best interests to do everything they can to make sure that this government shutdown inconveniences you in some way.
They closed down all of the National Parks, and forced people to leave, because we all know that people can’t walk through the woods of Yosemite without the federal government.
They closed down the national monuments in Washington, DC, barricaded them, and posed security guards, because we all know that people can’t walk the open-air National Mall without the federal government.
They refuse to even consider bills to fund the programs they complain about being shut down, because that would mean they can’t complain about them.
The Defense Department tried to cancel the Army-Navy game, even though the athletic program is not dependent on the federal budget…because of optics.
The National Zoo shut down their popular “Panda Cam,” even though funding for the webcam is provided by the Ford Motor Company Foundation.
