Approximately 11 seconds after Kamala Harris lost the 2024 election, partisan Democrats began desperately calling on Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to resign. Sotomayor is getting a little long in the tooth and they’re worried that President Donald Trump will get to choose her successor if she slips on a banana peel or something. They want Sotomayor to resign immediately so that Joe Biden can pick a much younger, mentally retarded communist like Ketanji Brown Jackson to replace her.

The thing to remember in situations like this is that Democrats care far more about power for their party than they do about individuals. Sotomayor is not a horrible person who is all over the map when it comes to Supreme Court decisions. She’s a fairly reliable liberal vote on decisions. She doesn’t seem like a cruel person and she’s definitely not the “wise Latina” that she billed herself as during her confirmation hearings. She just shows up for work.

So, Democrats are not calling on her to resign because she’s a bad person or makes bad rulings. They probably agree with most of her rulings. They want her to resign because she’s old. Sotomayor turned 70 this year. All her friends say she’s in good health, but you never know when a person reaches that age. The life expectancy for women in America is currently 77 years.

Democrats don’t want to risk losing another Supreme Court seat based on a coin toss, especially now that the Bad Orange Man will be in charge for the next four years. They still remember the sting of losing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who made it to 87 before she died. Ginsburg was still on the bench, and President Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to replace her. Justice Coney Barrett is now 52 and likely to serve on the court for at least another two decades.

Notice the date when he tweeted that. The corpse of the Harris/Walz campaign wasn’t even cold yet. That gives you a sense of how seriously liberals take institutions like the Supreme Court and the power they hold.

Liberals in Handmaid’s Tale costumes freaked out and tried to claw the doors of the Supreme Court open with their bare hands when Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed. Democrats couldn’t believe that former Justice Anthony Kennedy had decided to retire while Donald Trump was in office.

They’d prefer to keep an elderly Justice on the bench when it suits their political purposes. If Justice Kennedy had been wearing a colostomy bag and had dementia worse than Joe Biden, they still would have been calling for him to stay on the bench. But Sonia Sotomayor has to go!

Supreme Court seats are lifetime appointments. You may or may not like that system, but that was how it was established in the US Constitution. Justice Sotomayor can remain on the bench for as long as she likes. That’s exactly what she’s telling all the liberals in response to their demands.

Good for her! If she wants to stay on the bench until the day she dies, it’s her choice. There’s nothing that the desperate liberals can do about it. Imagine how Sotomayor feels right now as her entire political party is screeching, “Quit now, you old battleaxe!”
