Four people in San Bernardino County, California have been busted after trying to commit an alleged insurance fraud scheme. A person in a shabby bear costume crawled into their luxury vehicles in the town of Lake Arrowhead and scratched the interiors with a pair of chef’s claws, which are normally used to make pulled pork. The incredibly dumb scheme didn’t manage to fool insurance investigators or state biologists.

The four people who have been taken into custody owned a 2010 Rolls Royce Ghost, a 2015 Mercedes G63 AMG, and a 2022 Mercedes E350. They all filed insurance claims on January 28th of this year after a “bear” trashed the insides of their cars. They even sent the insurance adjusters a grainy black-and-white video of the bear, which is hilarious!

When you see the video of the bear below, you’ll wonder if any of these dummies have ever seen a real bear before. The “bear” in the surveillance video is about as realistic as the late John Candy’s dog costume in the movie “Space Balls.”

The intrepid criminals also used a chef’s tool with six claws on it, even though bears only have five claws on each paw. None of the investigators at the State Insurance Department believed that it was a real bear in the video, so they enlisted the help of a state biologist just to be sure.

Everyone who viewed the video and the scratches inside the luxury vehicles agreed that this was a guy in a bear costume. The four suspects received insurance payouts of $141,839 because of the “bear attack” on their cars.
