China Essentially Kidnaps Caribbean Country

The Caribbean Island of Antigua is located incredibly close to the US mainland as well as the US Virgin Islands. Taken over by China, Antigua is now being turned into an “economic zone” thanks to a push from the Chinese Communist Party, according to a report from Newsweek.

“This natural paradise on the island of Antigua, where officials will study the thoughts of Xi Jinping, is about to be razed for a Chinese-run special economic zone. According to documents reviewed by Newsweek, it will have its own customs and immigration formalities, a shipping port, and a dedicated airline and will be able to issue passports. It will establish businesses offering everything from logistics to cryptocurrencies, facial surgery to ‘virology.’”

China is the latest country to make a move against the US since the USSR moved to Cuba in the 1960s, and the US Government is concerned. According to one official, they have already seen the damage China has done across Asia and the Middle East, as well as their military misuse of the land, and worry that Antigua is next.

Once considered a part of the “backyard” of the US, the island is suddenly becoming the “front yard” of Chinese expansion. Antiguan Prime Minister Gaston Browne spoke with Newsweek about having the country become so involved in their growth and could not stop singing the praise for China or President Xi. With under 97k people and smaller than 170 sq miles, they are situated in a hurricane-prone area and, according to Browne, don’t get the support from the US or other nations that China has given them.

So impressed by their visit, back in January, Browne personally visited Beijing to open Antigua’s latest embassy. While the two nations have had diplomatic relations since 1983, this was a major achievement. With at least nine memorandums of understanding signed, the PM has agreed to Antigua giving Chinese shipping merchants maritime rights. Even more shockingly, he has also committed his officials to studying Xi Jinping’s Thoughts on Governance.

With China giving them 2% interest rates and a five-year gap until they need to start making payments on loans, it’s no surprise Browne loves them. Xi is doing things for them that Biden nor any other American leader would, and sadly it could cost Americans dearly.
