Kevin Spacey Now Living Homeless In L.A.

Two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey admitted he has no permanent residence following years of sexual misconduct allegations that destroyed his career.

The American Beauty and House of Cards star faced accusations from more than a dozen men. He denied every single allegation made against him, but that wasn’t enough to save his career or finances.

In a November 19 interview with The Telegraph, the famous actor said that despite never being convicted of any charges, his life has dramatically changed.

He lost his home of 12 years in Baltimore, Maryland, and currently has no fixed address.

“Because the costs over these last seven years have been astronomical. I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out.”

Spacey opened up about the sharp contrast between living luxuriously then being in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons and effectively losing it all.

“You get through it.”

He told The Telegraph that in weird ways he feels back to where he first started, which is he just went where the work was.

“Everything is in storage, and I hope at some point, if things continue to improve, that I’ll be able to decide where I want to settle down again.”

Describing his current living conditions, he said he’s living in hotels, he’s living in Airbnbs.

“I’m going where the work is. I literally have no home, that’s what I’m attempting to explain.”

After being shunned by Hollywood, Spacey discovered that first-time filmmakers have offered him work.

“We are in touch with some extremely powerful people who want to put me back to work. And that will happen in its right time. But I will also say what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to be given permission – by someone who is in some position of enormous respect and authority.”

When asked about his financial situation, Spacey replied not great, but said he has been able to avoid bankruptcy so far.

“It was discussed, but it never got to that point.”

Spacey was found not guilty of sexual assault in a 2023 case launched by four men in London claiming the actor assaulted them between 2001 and 2013.

Spacey was found not liable in a 2022 civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp. Rapp claimed that Spacey molested him in 1986 when he was just 14 years old.

The fall from grace has been swift and brutal for an actor who once commanded top dollar for roles and lived in luxury. Spacey won Best Supporting Actor for The Usual Suspects and Best Actor for American Beauty during his peak years in Hollywood.

His role as Frank Underwood on the Netflix series House of Cards made him one of television’s biggest stars before the allegations surfaced in 2017. The streaming giant immediately cut ties with him and wrote his character out of the final season.

Legal fees piled up as Spacey fought multiple cases across different countries. Traveling between the United States and United Kingdom for court appearances alone cost enormous sums. His attorney bills reached astronomical levels as he defended himself against numerous accusers.

The actor’s story highlights how allegations alone can destroy someone’s career and livelihood even without criminal convictions. Despite being cleared in court, the entertainment industry has largely refused to work with him.

Some argue this represents cancel culture at its worst, where accusations serve as conviction regardless of what juries decide. Others maintain that even acquittals don’t erase the multiple allegations from different people spanning many years.

Spacey’s comments about needing permission from someone in a position of enormous respect and authority reveal the power dynamics in Hollywood. One influential voice could potentially open doors for him again, but no one with that level of clout has been willing to take that risk.

The fact that only first-time filmmakers with limited resources are offering him work shows how thoroughly he’s been blacklisted by major studios and production companies. These smaller projects likely pay a fraction of what he once earned.

His situation also demonstrates the long-term financial impact of extended legal battles. Even someone who earned millions during their career can find themselves struggling when income stops while expenses continue.

Everything he owns sits in storage as he bounces between temporary accommodations following the work wherever it takes him. This is a dramatic reversal for someone who once had homes, awards, and seemingly unlimited career prospects.
